AI in Visual Arts Camp

Sure, you may have heard about Leonardo da Vinci, Pablo Picasso, Annie Leibovitz, Steven Spielberg. But, have you heard about DALL-E 2?

Explore the application of AI to various visual art fields such as drawing, painting, fashion, sculpture, film, in this virtual one week introductory summer camp for 5th – 12th graders, under the tutelage of MIT and Stanford engineers. Students will be learning how various AI models and concepts – Convolutional Neural Networks, Variational Autoencoders, Generative Adversarial Networks, Recurrent Neural Networks, Transformers and Dimensional Reduction – work in the context of visual art domain.

Students will join the AI art revolution by creating and curating their own AI + Art Galleries. Towards the end of the camp, students will also be participating in the 100K MehtA+ Money Startup Pitch Competition where they will work in groups of 3-4 to pitch startup ideas related to AI + Visual Arts.  Students who successfully complete the camp will receive a certificate.

No prior experience is required. See past projects of this camp here.

High school student Erin Y received 2nd Place Award at the 2022 National Chemistry Illustrated Poem Contest (American Chemical Society) for the digital art she created using DALLE-2 after learning about it in MehtA+ AI in Visual Arts camp!

The MehtA+ AI in Visual Arts camp was a fantasitc experience. We learned about many concepts in AI that were new to me. The teachers had great knowledge of the concepts and explained them in a simple manner. Throughout the camp, I learned about many cool tools that I had never used before. I enjoyed the opportunity to collaborate with my peers to make an AI design. I also developed many presentation skills. My teacher was very helpful and answered all of our questions. Overall, the camp was a valuable experience that introduced me to machine learning and its practical applications. I would highly recommend this course to anyone interested in AI.

The AI in Visual Arts camp offered a very fun and comprehensive curriculum. Ms. Haripriya herself was an awesome teacher, great at explaining challenging material and engaging students, and very patient and encouraging.
